California Poppies

California poppies (Eschscholzia californica) are the state flower of California, and during spring, can be present in large swaths throughout the state. The Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve SNR is probably one of the more popular locations to see these fantastic flowers each spring (you can read about the making of images #274 and 275 here), but I also live near Lake Elsinore, which on a good year, can have an equally impressive display of these flowers.
