Mountains

John Muir wrote, “The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”  Although I have always loved the red rock wildernesses of the American Southwest, I also love mountains.  Clean air, spectacular vistas, summer thunderstorms; all of these things make the mountains feel like home whenever I return.  Mountain ecosystems experience the full gamut of weather conditions, from summer heat to violent, heavy winter snowfall.  The light plays off of trees, rocks, and water in really wonderful ways, and this collection of images strives to capture the mystery and charm of these unique ecosystems.
