Jökulsárlón iceberg beach, Iceland

The black sand beaches at Jökulsárlón on the south coast of Iceland are the perfect location for these icebergs.  A calving glacier nearby is the source of the ice, which can vary widely in size and opacity.  The icebergs eventually wash out of the glacial lagoon and up onto the beach.  The waves of the north Atlantic batter them into every shape imaginable.
