Shiprock, Tsé Bitʼaʼí in Navajo, is a prominent volcanic intrusion in northwestern New Mexico. Tsé Bitʼaʼí is central to the Navajo creation story and plays a strong role in their folklore. I spent my childhood within sight of Shiprock and tried for a long time to capture it as I have always envisioned.
