**Update 5/29/20** This has been an immensely successful fundraiser, and thanks to you, we were able to donate $1,525 to the COVID-19 relief GoFundMe! See this blog post for more. Thank you for your support!

COVID-19 has hit members of the Navajo and Hopi Nations particularly hard. The Navajo Nation has more COVID-19 cases per capita than the entire US, except for New York and New Jersey. Native Americans currently make up more than 37% of all COVID-19 cases in New Mexico.

Jackson Frishman and I both have close ties to New Mexico and visiting and photographing Navajo land has played an important role in our lives. We feel a debt of gratitude and a duty to do what we can to help people who desperately need assistance. We have teamed up to offer a selection of images from traditional Navajo lands as a fundraiser for COVID-19 response on native lands in the Four Corners region.

COVID-19 “lockdowns” have affected all our lives dramatically, but the situation for many Native Americans is much more acute. The Navajo Nation is roughly the size of West Virginia and is home to around 356,000 people. Many don’t have cell phones, electricity, or reliable water. There’s been no way to get word out about the risks of this pandemic, to sanitize properly, or simply to do things many of us take for granted every day. Health care resources are thinly spread and are often very far away.

Ethel Branch, the former Navajo Attorney General, has launched a GoFundMe to help Navajo and Hopi families affected by the pandemic. To date, it’s raised over $600,000. We will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these prints to this GoFundMe. By purchasing one of the 8 x 12 prints below for $45, you will be making a direct contribution to the Navajo and Hopi Relief Fund. Why not get a print for your home and help a very, very good cause?

Every year, millions of tourists and landscape photographers flock to see the amazing natural wonders of the Navajo and Hopi Nations. If visits or images from these lands have touched your life, please consider offering what you can to help the people who call these landscapes home!
